Lumi House is a premium bilingual Kita built by parents and designed by child psychologists, in a freshly renovated historic building on the Zollikon waterfront. Calm rooms, natural materials, lake-side light.
A Kita founded by parents of young children who dreamt of a new kind of premium Kita, and built the one they wished existed. Every decision had to pass one simple test: would we send our own children here?
Pedagogy designed by our educators and reviewed and approved by child psychologists, built on attachment, autonomy and holistic development.
Optional add-ons shape the week around your family: the door-to-door bus, weekend care at the Lumière Family Club (opening later this year), and additional activities. Each is booked only if you want it, on top of one all-inclusive fee. We know exactly what a Tuesday morning looks like in our own house, so nothing here assumes a perfect week.

One flat monthly fee per child, with no hidden hourly charges. Every place covers the full day from 07:30 to 18:30, home-made meals and snacks, nappies and care, and our weekly language, music and movement classes as standard.
Nothing billed by the hourEducators native in each language work with the children daily, alongside colleagues who speak the second language as non-native speakers. Every place also includes a weekly class with a professional language teacher. Children acquire both naturally, never forced, just like our own children, who switch from Gute Nacht to goodnight in the middle of a sentence.

Safe morning pick-up and afternoon drop-off, right to your door, from Zollikon, Küsnacht, Herrliberg and the surrounding villages.
Optional add-onForest days, lake walks, museum trips, sensory picnics at the lake. The Goldküste is our extended classroom. The lakeside picnic was the idea of one of our founding parents: the lake teaches more in an hour than any worksheet.

Weekend care add-onOne flat monthly fee per child, for two to five days a week and payable over twelve months, with a lower toddler rate from 20 months. There is no registration fee: a refundable deposit secures your place and is returned when your child leaves. Siblings receive a discount. Optional extras, booked only if you want them: the door-to-door bus, the Lumière Family Club, and additional activities such as arts & crafts, weekend camps and sleepover nights. The warm, cosy design was done by Dorka, and every piece of furniture and every toy was hand-picked by our team, based on many years of parenting and hands-on experience with children. If something would not earn its place in our own home, it does not come into the house.

Dorka & Marcell, founders
We're Dorka and Marcell, parents of two young children, and Lumi House started with a very personal question: what would the Kita we truly wanted for our own children look like? Dorka said it out loud first. By the end of that week, Marcell was already measuring rooms.
Together with three other founding families, we started talking to parents about what really matters to them when choosing a Kita. Through a series of interviews, we listened to their experiences, wishes and concerns, from education and nutrition to the spaces children spend their days in, the activities they enjoy and the relationships they build.
These conversations have shaped Lumi House from the very beginning, and they continue to do so today. We've built a strong community of parents who regularly share their ideas and feedback with us. It helps us keep improving and makes sure we stay true to the standards we set for ourselves.
Our goal is simple: to create the kind of place we would choose for our own children, where children are happy and feel secure, while growing up healthy, confident and curious.
